For the past few weeks I have been practicing a new gym routine – rather than go int he evening, I go in the very early morning. The downside is the obvious getting up at 6 am, and dragging my half-conscious corpse to the MRT. But working out in the morning feels really good! It’s easier to be energized, and the muscles are not strained after a day of work. And it’s not crowded at all, so I get to freely pick which machines I want to use.
And another great thing about it – I can shamelessly go for toasts to replenish my energy storage for the day ;D

What is your preferred time for working out?
Just to make it official, couple of weeks ago, my second PR application was denied. This time the gov didn’t even bother to give out reason . I sort of feel like a teenager stuck is some unwanted love drama . I guess my hopes really went up after the national rally, where the PM said something about being opened to ppl who want to strike roots in Singapore – and to be honest, I thought I pretty much fit the profile.
Anyways, the Y U NO guy kindly agreed to make a guest appearance on this blog

And yeah, I’ve been a bit mopey for a while because of the denial, but life goes on and I try to look at the bright side of things – at least I don’t have to pay CPF ;D.
Cheers!
I love living in Singapore, but seriously… renting is a horror. It’s embarrassing, annoying and frustrating. Embarassing because as an Ang Moh I constantly have to deal with the allegation, that I earn stacks of hard cash, so even if I tell the agent my maximum budget, they will still come back to me with rental offers of bungalows in atas neighborhoods.
And to be honest, I would not mind roommates. SG flats are spacious and with two bathrooms, you can basically lead a separate live from your roommates. Right? NOT! When I first came to SG with Significant other, we tired sharing, and it was a mess. Sometimes it was the little things, like finding that someone pulled out your wet laundry from the washing machine and dumped it on the floor, or things magically disappearing… a stove left at full heat, toilet seat lifted and bathroom door opened…
Or you can get a crazy roommate, that has a phone ringing 24/7 (even when he is out), who rolls home at middle of the night and puts on the TV full volume (and gets offended if you ask him to turn it off), does not pay the rent, stinks (like REALLY BAD) and is.. delusional and crazy. Unfortunately that is what happened to us, as we had to share an apartment with a crazy guy. It all ended in a week two-week long brawl, involving the landlord camping on the couch, regular police visits, shouts and screams till 3 am, and us coming back to an appartment pad-locked by the crazy guy.

*Sigh* Being a totally broke wannabe-entrepreneur is damn harsh when it comes to renting (if you wanna help my entrepreneurial adventures, please play Fashion Sugar and tell your friends about it ) I wonder will the real estate situation in Singapore ever improve. What do you think?
Last year I dyed my hair with “Chestnut” Bubble Color from Liese, and to be hones, I was not all that amazed – the color turned out blank, and my hair turned out waaaay lighter than I expected. Not to mention un-even coloring.
But still I just cannot give up on Liese xD. Especially after I’ve heard that their new colors are supposedly better than the previous ones. So I grabbed the “Sweet Apricot”! ;D
This time I kept it on my hair just for 25 minutes, as I didn’t want to have super-light hair like last time. The color turned out rather subdued, which I don’t really mind. It gives just a hint of orange, and lightened the overall color.
The downside would be the fact that the color fades rather quickly, but red colors are known for that, and I am not using a shampoo for colored hair. The other thing that I did not enjoy was the atrocious ammonia smell, that didn’t disappear even after two rounds of washing and conditioning.
I already have another box of “Sweet Apricot” stored and waiting for second coloring in few weeks. I wonder how the color will turn out after my hair has been already slightly lightened.
We all have those childhood fantasies – we dream of becoming astronauts, doctors and gardeners. For me, till I was 4 I was strongly convinced I would be the weather presenter in TV xD.
But after that my dreams would always veer into fashion and art. I would have boxes and boxes filled with my paper doll designs, and I would buy notebooks and fill them with designs. Of course, I would carry those around, show to every aunt and uncle, and throw a tantrum if they didn’t praise me ;D.
But as I was approaching teenage years, my mom decided to have a “serious talk” with me, and explained how designers and artists lead a poor life, where most of the time they have to beg people to buy their stuff, and no one wants it. Well, it might sound awfully harsh, but at that time we were still living in a communistic Europe, and no one ever imagined there would be legit work for designers.
But I followed my parents wishes and chose the more “reasonable” directions for my study and work. But I still loved designing, and would always doodle things on scraps of paper. Till last year, when I decided I wanted to take this whole thing to another level – and merge my love for fashion design with my knowledge of social media.
And that’s how Fashion Sugar - a Facebook game was born. I didn’t want to go in the direction of doing another Mafia Wars or Farmiville, just in pink color (as such games already exist). I wanted to do a game that actually is about styles and trends, and would have the latest designs in it. I wanted something, that would allow to mix and match clothes, so players could have fun with trying on different styling.
I also wanted something that allows to show off ones personal style – that’s why in Fashion Sugar you can show off your styling to other players in game, or even make a widget and put it on your blog.
Currently the game is still developing, and I try to regularly add in new styles and pieces of clothing. Do try it out, and let me know what you think about it I would greatly appreciate feedback!
So next week two of my aunts are coming to visit me here in SG. They are both 50+, and don’t speak English at all, so they picked me as their guide hehe . I’m very much looking forward to spending the week showing them around Singapore.

From the top of my head, places I plan to show them:
- Marina Bay and Merlion.
- MacRitchie reservoir (I think it’s much more friendly and accessible than Bukit Timah).
- Little India and China Town -mostly temples
- Botanic Gardens
- Bird Park
- Sentosa
- Mud-skippers at Pasir Ris park ;D
- Orchard Road
- Peranakan Museum and Fort Caning
- Civilization Museum
Any more places you could recommend for a visit? I’m not really into the idea of doing to much museums and such. Also have to avoid getting to high up, since one of the aunts prefers to keep her feet on the ground as much as possible .
For the food, I’m thinking of getting the aunts to try the following:
- Chicken Rice
- Char Kway Teow
- Prata (not sure where… after last time I had prata at my favorite place I ended up with food poisoning xD)
- Murtabak and briani
- Durian xD I’m not sure if I will survive the tasting tho… Two years in SG and I still can’t get over the durian grudge.
Hmmm I think my food list sort of sucks… Mostly because I’m so freaked out about see food, and see food is the main component of so many famous Singaporean dishes . Not sure if the family will be more enthusiastic about it.
The only reason why I find living in Punggol not so bad is the fact that it makes me stuck in the MRT for long hours – and that is the perfect excuse for me to indulge in excessive reading sessions .
My current choice is Trudi Canavan’s Black Magician Trilogy, and I’m already devouring the 3rd book. If you like fast-paced not-too-gory and not too complicated fantasy books, then I strongly recommend you pick this one up. It’s definitely not light-hearted or humorous, but it’s well written, with simple language, and easy to follow plot.

What makes for a good read, is the fact that although it’s a fantasy book, you don’t have to learn some complicated cosmology, religion or political systems, etc. to get a good grasp of the events and motivations.
I’m not gonna give away too much of the plot, but I will mention that the main heroine is a girl, and a lot of the problems and dilemmas revolve around a dispute if some privileges should be reserved for only an elitist social group. Makes for a good read, especially when you live in Singapore, or other society that has to be constantly aware of risks and dangers of social exclusion.
The title of the first book is “Magicians Guild“, followed by “The Novice” and “High Lord“.
And what are you reading nowadays?

Ok, this is not some coming-out-of-the-closet post, just wanted to share a list of women that I find beautiful and interesting ;p I think most women have a girl-rush list with their favorite icons, fashion idols or beauty gurus. So for me, this is the top 5 :
1. Angelina Jolie – she’s been on the top of my list for a looooong time. I like her masculine charm, and how she seems to be a cool person aside from being a kick-ass movie star. Also, I look up to her for being able to combine being a career woman, mother and a social activist.
2. Kim Kardashian – to be honest, the moment she speaks, she annoys the hell out of me, so I never watched a single episode of “Keeping up with the Kardashians”, but I will collect any photo of her latest outfit . I just love how she is the curvy, full-figured beauty, and rocks that look! People might call her fat, but she still looks fabulous ;D
3. Milla Jovovich – because she kills zombies in the most bad-ass way ;D And she is soooooo pretttyyyyyyyy
4. Dita Von Teese – self-made career woman, and symbol of femininity. I find her confidence very alluring.
5. Megan Fox – ok, this one is tricky. I used to look up to Megan for being this cool, quirky girl, who looked good in minimal makeup, and simple dresses. But lately… I just don’t know what happened. Her face looks so weird and swollen… Botox/fillers overdose?

So, who’s on your list?
Last weekend managed to go to Indonesian Bintan as a “+1″ for Significant Other’s corporate trip. Although this was meant as a team-building exercise in theory, there was plenty of time to just do nothing and linger on the beach.
We stayed at the “Nirvana Gardens” resort, and as much as the facilities were ok (but a lot of aircon problems and water heaters were I guess just for show ;P), I didn’t really like the overpriced food in the hotel restaurants. Not really sure if I would recommend this place to anyone going on a short trip to Bintan.
But the beach was quite amazing! Super white sand + calm, clear water. For me, a person born in the heart of cold Europe this was the dream-holiday experience ;D And of course, I got enough sunburn to turn red like a shrimp T_T

 Practicing my levitation skill ;D
 Panoramic shot of the beach
 OMG swim-suit photo xD ;p
I wish I could travel more! But so broke, damnit… Being an aspiring Facebook games mogul not very profitable at this point T_T *sigh*
